I have a set of Polk Audio DB6930 (6X9 3-way) speakers to install in my 850. I could not get these guys to fit within the orginal enclosures from Volvo. It looks as if I will have to cut into the rear deck of the car. I prefer to avoid that if at all possible, any body do something similar to fit 6X9's in their rear? I am open to suggestions. Thanks in advance...

6x9 should fit the rear deck without problems. Charles Linden on the brickboard did this to his T-5R a while ago. He did a page on it. Here is the link: http://www.volvospeed.com/Reviews/kappa.htm
But according to him, you do have to drill some holes though. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. I am still a wee bit confused as to what is to be done with the 2.5" SS screws. Would it be safe to assume that he did not place the speakers all the way into the factory holes and just left them sitting up? I am not sure that this would look right, but it is worth a shot. I know that flush fitting is out of the question as my magnet is too large to go throuh the holes in the deck anyhow. I will give it a wizzbang this weekend. Thanks again
