rear seat headrest removal

Does someone here know how to remove the rear outboard seat headrests? I'd like to remove them to make room for my high-back front-facing child seats.

WhiteMule, I'm trying to remove the back to the third row seat on my 2004 XC90 to repair the cable that releases the head rest when folding down the seat. Does the plastic trim piece under the head rest pry up to remove? I didn't see the original question, but I'm hoping I do not have to hack saw off the head rest posts as you mention above. Thanks for your help!
