Re: Ready for tune on 05 v70R which one. (geddyup)

RICA from VIVA or IPD's softloader each has their own strong points and weak points how far are you planning on going with your mods? The IPD tune claims to make the most power under the curve, while Rica produces the most peak power IIRC.IPD requires a laptop and offers datalogging and some diagnostics.Rica doesn't require a laptop to load and unload the tune and will also read codes if I remember right. Both are very highly regarded in the community.

If you have desktops than I would do the Rica tune FWIW.Either tune requires that you have the hardware mailed to you after that it's all done online.Sounds like all you have to do is pull the trigger .I've never driven a Rica tuned car myself but all the reviews are

None of the dyno shops I've spoken to can tune a Volvo, Subi, Fords, etc, but not Volvo. This would be a very nice option. I went with RICA but sometimes wish I'd ponied up for the IPD tune. I waffle back and forth, both are good.

It's not impossible, but very hard to find.

Re: (Johnr352)

Johnr352,
Can you comment on the results of your "re-tune" from RICA following the results of your dyno runs at EFI? I assume that you sent the boost, AFR, fuel?, etc. data to RICA?
If your outcome is good, it would be nice to know what data RICA requires in order to produce a "tweaked" tune.
Cheers,
Jeff

What I mean is, the preliminary results are sometimes quite different then those 100 miles later. So far so good. In that, so far I am seeing better top end and better boost numbers. Whereas boost peak was in the 16-17 I am now seeing 18-19psi range. We'll see if it "sticks".
I user PalmerPerformance data logging, which has about everything I could want except boost. If I had boost (and HP obviously). Rica may not have needed a dyno (though maybe, if to baseline my HP and TQ numbers).
I sent them an excel file with the data from the Dyno runs along with my data logging files. The data I captured in my data runs were, MAF readings, ambient numbers, fuel pressure, timing, IAT, short term fuel trim (I'm not exactly sure I know what this is), vs rpm and engine load (the closest to boost I've got). I'm not sure what data they found helpful but thought that more couldn't hurt.
I note that RICA has inquired if I were willing (as they understand these aren't free) to do another Dyno run to show the effects of their changes and to (I suppose) tweak further if need be. I sure wish they were closer and, for example, available by phone, or to modify the tune while sitting on the dyno, but I do very much appreciate their help and attention. I'm sure George at VIVA could find out anything else they might need for a custom tune.
