Today I noticed a weird rattle in decel in my 04 wagon. It sounds like a loose ball bearing or something similar and seems to be speed sensitive. As I slow down the rattles start to get slower.
Its coming from the right side front. Is it an axle? Worse?

In addition to the axle bolt, also check the carrier bearing for the right axle, its the one that is mounted near the crank pulley.

Also check the output from the angle gear and make sure it seems solid, shouldn't be any play, just a little slack in the rotation.

I think my wheel was about to fall off. ugh. One missing lug bolt and the rest finger tight. One was half backed out too!. Scary. I havent test driven it yet. Axle bolt was on and tight.

Unlucky turned lucky you, glad you caught it before it turned into a catastrophe.

This is why I ALWAYS double check my lug torque after a few spirited drives. OCD has its advantages sometimes.
