Hello,
I switched out the front lighter fuse, and pulled, then replaced, the headlight fuse (but maybe it was the fuse for the radio). On restarting the car, the radio requested an identification code. I vaguely recall getting a credit-card sized card, when I first bought the car, with a 4 digit number. I've given the car to my daughter whose crossing Nebraska tomorrow and has zero attention span. She's depending on the radio, which she can't turn on due to the absent code. Anyone know how, and how quickly, I can get the original code from Volvo?
Worried in Wisconsin

Re: radio wants code but original code card is gone (olsont)

If you know the originating dealer and the radio hasn't been replaced, call them...
Most of them keep it on file.... If not. the radios come out very easily... If you have time in the morning before she leaves, take out the radio and go (or call) your Volvo dealer's parts dept and they will ask you for some of the numbers on the sticker....
The service dept. is usually the best place to call if you're going with option #1...
The parts dept. is usually best for option #2...

Agreed.. and to add one thing.
You have 2 times to try to enter the code in a 24 hour period, if you try it 3 times, the radio will say "off" and you won't be able to try again for another 24 hours or you have to have the car key to on or run the car for 2 to 3 hours NON STOP without touching the radio for it to reset, so...don't push the buttons anymore until you have the code

It says so in right the owners radio manual. I should be clearer, 2 to 4 hours, engine RUNNING or key to on or 24 hours, everything off.
If you try 3 times with the wrong code, that is IT for 24 hours! ( if you're lucky )
Once the radio goes to "off" good luck. Sometimes they can be stubborn to come back to life and believe me this is from experience
