Destroy Bay Ridge Volvo:
When I listen to the radio the surround sound comes in and out of any speaker it chooses. CD/IPOD work just fine. Regina over there (of whom I call the rocket woman because she still think Volvo has private satellites that are the only thing that can reset my maintenance time message) says that the surround sound is not supposed to work with the radio?
I happen to have an engineering degree but I know nothing of the receiver in the car, it is the top radio they had to offer in the 06 s40? ANyone?

Re: Radio Receiver (av8tor)

you should now the answer i was given was that radio stations do not broadcast in surround sound, and the receiver cannot make it surround sound............kinda defied the point of getting the surround sound receiver if they just told me it doesnt work.

For this to work properly, the quality has to be of a certain level. With FM broadcasts, sometimes the signal degrades to the point where you are not receiving a true stereo signal. On a regular 2 channel stereo setup you might notice that as a slight degradation in quality but when the head unit it trying to decode a degraded signal into multiple channels you get a far more noticeable degradation as you noted.
UKMatt
