Ok, here is the short rundown. Halfway to Seattle this last week my radio cuts out, doesn't respond. Comes back on by itself a little later. Does this a few times of randomly turning off and coming back on later, ranging from 5 minutes to an hour. All other functions of the ICM appear to work (AC, car menu settings, etc). However, my Nav doesn't open or start up. Now, no matter what I do it doesn't turn on at all, not even intermittently/randomly. The whole drive from Seattle no music.
Suggested by a few people that it may be software related, just hoping someone on here has had this same issue and has more info on it.
Just talked to my dealer and they were pushing it could be the whole module and would be pushing $1k w/labor. If that is the case I will just do a sweet carpc install that controls all my speakers through an aftermarket amp instead since everything else controlled by the ICM appears to be fine and I will never pay $1k for a new ICM.
I have checked all connections that I can think of, as well as checked most of the fuses (plan on checking EVERY single one after work today). I have turned my car off, unplugged the battery following the appropriate steps, etc.
Any ideas? If I really have to go to a dealer I will just do it the next time I am in Seattle as I prefer to give them my business instead of the stealership here.

I'll add an incentive: if someone can help me figure this out w/o the involvement of a stealership I'll buy you dinner or something.

Re: Radio not working: anyone have these same issues? Fixes? (jdsr917)

So after spending forever on this issue, even swapping the steering wheel buttons for the other set I had without any luck, I left the battery undone for about an hour. Still no dice, so I completely removed the dension setup from the car and guess what? Voila, it worked the moment I turned the car on. So somewhere in the wiring of my dension setup there is an issue...because I checked at least 3-4 times every connection on it, as well as the fuse it was tapped into, etc. and couldn't find anything visibly wrong...so now I have to figure out what part is having issues or if a pin just wasn't connecting. Definitely relieved though because I didn't want to find out the ICM or whatnot would have to be replaced. Now to decide if I have time today to mess with the Dension stuff or not...doesn't make sense because all other stuff worked, yet if a fiber optic cable has issues it shuts down the whole ICM, from my past experiences at least. Ideas?

Damn, i had a feeling it could be related to the dension unit but was hoping it wasnt. Possibly an internal fault. I just dont like how much stuff you have to rig to get the thing to work and all the crazy steps lol.

Well, to be honest it came down to the fiber optic plastic end piece connector is just loose, so a little tape to hold it correctly into the dension unit fixed it. First thing I tried and it worked, so I got lucky. I still recommend the dension, the sound is AMAZING compared to listening to the radio or CDs. Next time I'm up there we'll have to meet up and you can hear it in person.

So is the connector for the fiber optic bad or was it just not clicked in place all the way? A fiber optic failure would explain why it was shutting down the Nav and ICM although still turning on since it would have power, ground, etc just not communication between the modules.

I think it is just the plastic part that the fiber optic wires attach to and snap into, which then snap into the opposite part. So for now I just have it taped so it doesn't move around, until I figure out where to buy a replacement plastic piece. Should only be a couple bucks, which is WAY better than the $100 for software or $1k for ICM replacement. Kyle, I love the Dension so I'm glad it wasn't anything seriously wrong with it. The problem would explain why when I hit the bump in the freeway it stopped working and would come back on intermittently.
