I had the the pealing radio knob problem which the dealer fixed by replacing the whole radio module. I saw those knobs up close while sitting in the new C70 at my dealership and they look much cheaper in person. Made me like the default knobs on my S40 more... However if replacing broken knobs, they may be worth it, just for a change.

I took my S40 in for service and showed the technician the TSB about replacing the knobs. Unfortunately, he told me they wont do it for free under warranty. He said that its a note to the techs only and not a recall. BUMMER! My fan speed/Auto knob started peeling about a year ago and I was so pissed! Anybody else have any luck getting theirs replaced under warranty?

If he doesn't immediately accept that this is a warranty issue, ask for the general manager. If he doesn't help ask for the owner. Seriously, the technician is messing you around.<p>There's no need to take in the TSB - just point to the peeling and get them to fix it.<p>UKMatt

If your car is under 12k miles, then they really should fix it. Maybe you can try another dealer. I have had good luck with Park Place Volvo formerly known as Point West.<br>

I think the OP has a valid argument that it's not unreasonable to expect the interior to be intact for the duration of the warranty.<p>Not saying you're wrong - just that I'd stand firm on them being covered for the entire warranty.<p>UKMatt<br>
