The following is regarding a 2009 XC70.
At random times, as far as I can tell, there will be an odd electronic like static that comes from the speakers when listening to a CD or AUX (ipod) or HD radio. Regular radio seems to be immune. The only fix I have is to turn off the car, remove the key, reinsert the key and restart the car.
I have had the car about 2 months and this has happened maybe a half dozen times and is not reproducible. In each case I have not been near the dealer to have them give a listen.
Has anyone experienced this issue and/or have any ideas as to what the problem might be?
Re: Radio/CD/AUX intermittent static (deacon)

If its just your ipod and sounds like its not but what happened to me was the cover of my iphone prevented the cable plug from fitting neatly into the hole on the iphone and the sound was odd. Other than that all i can suggest is to leave a digital recorder (either audio or video) in the car and record the sound otherwise its difficult for your dealer to get a handle on whats going wrong.
cheers
hatdriver
