Another fellow here, Mike..(don't remember his screen name here) did a 13.7s for 1/4 mile with his 98 S70 T5 auto not too long ago.
All he had was IPD's exhaust, ECU,big bored TB, open element air filter, and running on Volans with PZeros.
Not too shabby I'll say. Hehehe..when he post his result, should be a good advertisement for IPD.

Jesse850GLT,
Great job! I have driven a 99' Civic Si before and it is a quick little car. You have to rev the hell out of that car or it just won't move until VTEC kicks in. Your car will really kill an Si in the torque department. Kudo's!
-Drew

So they make up for it by having redlines at 7K, 8K, even 9K RPM.

Low 16s is about right for a bone stock 99-00 Civic Si with a bad driver. A good driver would be able to push one into the upper 15s.

quote:
Originally posted by jesse850GLT:
After the race he had his hood open as if there was something wrong with his car.

Of course he had the hood open looking like that. Also keep in mind that the 99+ GT Stangs have a decent sounding stock exhaust which ean easily be mistaken for aftermarket.
Here is one of my timeslips from last season. At the time I had a CAI and Flowmaster catack, and I was running on the stock Goodyears. Since then, I've added a bigger TB and better Nitto 555 tires. I'm hoping the car will run about a tenth faster right now, but I haven't gotten to the track this spring yet. I'm on the right (#236), I was racing a 2001 MR2 Spyder, and I believe he missed 3rd gear.

My friend has a '92 Eagle Talon TSi-AWD. His particular car is bone stock, but let's just say that 12-second 1/4 mile times are well within the reach of a turbo DSM driver on a budget.

Yeah, its not right, why cant volvo's be made for cheap. Im the kind of A$$ who's mane goal is to stand out some at those events. It wasnt my original intention, I was given the volvo, and was told "Dont sell it or else." I have quickly grown to love that car. Im trying to save up money now so that I can have a way fast volvo. I have a 96 855 turbo. I have a new exhaust and airintake, open element. It feels a little quicker, not enough for me. I know this is way off topic, but I have been competing car audio for three years now with my car. I have made quickly broken world records, the car has a great interior for bass, and Im not sure why. I used to have two 12's and 2400 watts in the car, and I would hit in the low 150's, record was 152.6 in stock sealed enclosures. I then went to ported boxes and got into the high 150's, and as I recall my record was a 158.2. This was in novice class stuff, so it was way louder than the other, it wasnt uncommon for me to beat other by 10 decibles, which is unheard of. I used to completely suprise people, especially cuz of the great sound deadening, they could hardly hear anything outside the car. Got love that sleeper suprise ability volvo's have. Oh yeah, I have done a few races, personally I like street racing with turns and stuff better, but straightline stuff is still fun. Anyway, My best was a 14.8 at a speed that I dont remember, I would have to find the sheet. thats all.
-Matt
Volvo 855? Or 850? If 855 was right, what is the difference between an 855 Turbo and a 850 Turbo?
Also, what prevents you from putting a boost controller on the 850 and upping the boost? Is the block/internals really that weak?

Of course, all of that became obsolete when Volvo changed the models from numbers to alphanumeric variants in MY1998 (excl. MY1997.5 when the 960 models changed to S/V90).
Yannis
