Re: R UPGRADES? (PhilUp)

I did some snooping around IPD's site. I like there ECU upgrade. But as far
as exhaust I could only find the down pipe. Although I think i will use IPD
for the Air managment. I'm still leaning Evolve for exhaust. 3.5in DP and
3in Advanced set up. If anyone else has upgrade idea's im not looking for
half assed things. My end product im hoping is loud powerful and fast!

Re: R UPGRADES? (PhilUp)

I'd say keep leaning towards the full Evlove exhaust, its very very nice, and if you want people to hear your car coming, in a none obnoxious sort of way, you'll have it. Also, as for body styling you've only got a couple choices unless you have costume work done. For starters there is Evolve styling, front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts, hood grilles, trunk spoiler. There is also the standard factory Aero Kit which has front winglets, side skirts, bumper, and trunk spoiler. In addition the folks at Carbon Fiber Works make the Aero Kit front winglets, a roof spoiler, and trunk spoiler out of carbon fiber if thats your thing. Then there is of course wheels, and a couple other oddball things you can do like changing out stock grills for mesh ones, changing lights, wheels, tints, and of course lowering the car. Hopefully that helps, if you need any help looking for the stuff let me know, I try and keep up as I'll be going for the more show then go approach to modding out my R when I get the funds.

Re: R UPGRADES? (s60rwolf)

Hey Wolf,
I would say that the 3.5 Inch downpipe is a little excessive but if you want the extra .5 inches then go for it... But you could save about $650 by getting the 3 inch DP from IPD and still getting the Evolve Exhaust. Also I didn't see anyone mention the torque delete on the 04-05 GT as an option... IPD will remove the 257 ft lbs limter after you sign a waiver, of course the increased risk for damage if you go nuts with a lead foot is there. Otherwise you are waiting until third for the boost to climb... The AMS is more of an asthetic if you will, looks sick , sounds sick and will provide less vacumn when boosting for slightly better throttle response . Last ensure the car is in good shape and that you check over everything prior to boosting the performance, (plugs, vacumn lines, fuel filter, add a boost gauge, check the condition of coolant and hoses). Finally be prepared when you do go nuts to have some problems or issues to beigin to uncover themselves, that if left stock may have otherwise lasted just a wee bit longer .

Re: R UPGRADES? (kmg_S60R)

Sir by Mountain home ID do you mean 10th Mountain? because if that's the case my unit is replacing the 10th Mountain in Iraq.

No, not 10th Mountain though I would proudly serve with them, or any Army unit, I am AF... So that is the deployment that is funding the R... Mountain Home Air Force Base Idaho... I know of one other SS member from that area.

JRL Mod (cut out the exhaust resonator) - $70 or less
2. Kelly AKA IPD CAI - pretty cheap too
3. Second set of wheels/tires - in MN you want a set of summers and a set of snows (assuming you are gonna stick around MN when you get back) - figure $1000.
4. Spend the rest of your 5 grand on track days and related consumables. It's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow - you'll get both the instruction you need and the joy of doing 1G turns at 120MPH+ at Brainerd Raceway.
I started modding my T5 and quickly started funnelling all my spare cash to track days rather than additional mods. It's a no-brainer really if you enjoy speed. Spending money on mods and having none left over to actually enjoy them is silly.
