So I was just reading about the 240 accessories and I saw a name mentioned that I've seen before. Anyone know the story on R-sport? Was this an in-house accessories company for Volvo or a tuner, and are they still around?

It was part of Volvo. I don't know when it started and when it ended, but I would guess about '72-'85. I know there was an R-Sport instrument cluster for the 140/160, so early '70s at least. SAM bought out the R-Sport division and still carries some of the same parts. They carry a lot of race parts in general, so I don't know how much of it was R-Sport equipment.

I think R-Sport Started in or around 69. there was a 142GT that was equipped with the "R-Sport" gear. Well interiour anyways. I think the GT also had soem engine work done. My dad has owned many 140's 122's etc. But he said the GT was the only car he had that travel at 125MPH let alone for 2 hours straight. He said no other car he's had has done this.
S.A.M still sells many parts from the R-Sport division of Volvo. They have some very cool stuff. A DOHC 16-Valve head for a B20, blocks, pistons, rods, cams, clutches, lights, electronics, interiours, wheels, brakes. Pretty much anything you could dream of. How much SAM still produces I don't know.
I saw the catalouge a few years back at a Volvo dealership, that was a very FAT catalouge. It was the '85 cat. Had all sorts of cool things, parts numbers even. The guy said he could probably track down some parts numbers. Could be stored in teh back of a warehouse somewhere. Very cool stuff.
