Does anyone know the sizes of the factory speakers in the R?
* I know this will end up being moved to the audio section but that section recieves much less traffic. Could this please remain in the R forum for a bit.

Re: R speaker sizes. (slowrey)

Even though I have 2 subs in my trunk in addition to all of this, Car Toys said they bet they could get better sound out of my truck by putting 3 subs behind the seats.
Oh yeah, and they quoted me $8500 for that.

I am thinking a 13w7 in the trunk with a JL 1000/1 for this sub a 500/1 for the 8's in the deck and a 450/4 for the doors. For the doors I am going to run a MB quart Q series 1", 4" and 6.5" 3 way up front and Q series 2 way in the rear. prolly use 8w0's for the rear deck and a 3 way X-over for the 13",8"s and components and a DD8017 deck. Add a 50 farad capacitor, wires, fuses, terminals etc and it will not be cheap.

YOu might want to stay away from MB Quart and look at Focal Speakers. MB Quart is no longer the company they used to be for the money you pay. I have been very pleased with Focal speakers in my other cars.

I had focal in a previous vehicle and loved them but they don't make the sizes that I am looking for. Plus I can get MB Quart from a sponsor; this is always helpful.

A/D/S is an incredible product. When you get to this level of speakers, nothing is "better" just "different". At home I have al Rotel preamps and amps with mostly BW 802's and although there are more expensive set-ups they only change the minute charactoristics and not make them better or worse. I was a session/studio musician in a previous life so I do have a pretty good ear. (and am humble about it too...)
Also CDT is another brand I am considering. They are along the same lines as Dynaudio, A/D/S or MB Quart

Once we start taking the conversation away from the R and towards brand quality, etc., then it will need to be moved to the Audio forum.

Not sure if there was a net weight gain or loss.

I didn't take ride height measurements before and after. I did scrape my exaust a little when the car was loaded up with 4 people, but I'm looking into adjusting that.
