Here is to the end of a very long day...errr week. I had to vent here to my R brother well because it is 4 a.m. I am just getting home and who else would entertain me. So here we go...Triumph Got my power mirrors installed by my dealer. Tribulation...charged me 400+ dollars for 3.5 hours of labor, took 4 days to do it and still left me with the faux buttons for me to install on my own, but the kick to the balls comes at the end of my evening
Short story long, when I had a scheduled appointment for a clicking sound in my front end, I was told it was the Cat converter and to bring it in when the part arrived. (arrived a week late) but scheduled appointment for last Tues, first thing in the morning. Triumph...Dealer finally gives me a loaner car, XC90.
Tribulation Tues. eve. No word from dealer so I stop by, and learn that "oh, the cat. converter is fine and the rattle is gone but I don't know what they did, and could you come back tomorrow as we didn't have time to look at the mirrors." Wed - 3p.m. no word from the dealer so I call and ask for a timeframe and estimate as I still haven't been quoted...I am told that they just rolled the car into the shop so it should be done today and to expect about 4 hours labor? I show up at 5 p.m. and they tell me that the tech is figuring out something. 7p.m. "we are closing, we got the mirrors working but the headrest now doesn't work, could you come back tomorrow as we are going to have the shop forman look at it then"
Well I have no choice but to leave it and I leave the loaner as I don't want to be responsible for damage to a car in NYC while I have to work the entire week starting Thurs.
Thurs - I call at 4 p.m. as I haven't heard a word and am told that "the two techs and the shop foreman working on your car didn't come in today, maybe tomorrow.
Friday - I get the call at 3 p.m. as I am putting on my uniform...car is ready can you drop off the loaner today as we will need it. I calmly explain that I left the loaner with him two days prior...
Today I get up at 8 a.m. after working till 3 a.m. and ride the train up to get the car. Get there and am told that they are giving me a deal on the service ( yeah right) and yet I notice a $15 dollar charge for gas/service and am told that is standard for everyone and that he didn't really know what it was for. Rather than explode at him (partial sleep deprivation won out) I collected the car to find 3 holes in the dash where faux buttons should be. "oh yeah we are waiting on those parts to come in do you want to come back?"
I have ranted For too long, but the icing on the cake is after arresting 4 kids for smoking the reefer while driving around Manhattan (my partner and I were tempted to pull a Super troopers Move) and working on arrest paperwork till about 45 minutes ago...someone felt the need to hit the rear of my car and shatter the tail light and scrape up the rear bumper and take off without a note (go figure)
I think the Volvo Gods are mad at me, but god bless attacama

You are a better man than me. I would have gone ape $hit on the dealer after that nonsense. And. I feel your pain on the hit & run busted tail light - it happend to me (in my office lot). Why are people such idiots?
Clearly you exhibit a ton of self control & you must be a very good officer to remain so even tempered. Hang in there!

You, my friend, are truly patient. Which dealer is this, or did I miss it somewhere in the post?
Oh, btw, that's why I HATE driving in the city.
Good luck and remember, "woooosahhh".

"I'm freakin out man"..."You are freaking out, man" Haha
That sounds like a helluva week. I'm sorry to hear you go through all of that. Next week I am leaving my car in the shop for the axle spline issue. I'm a little worried, hope all goes well. I'll let you know if I end up running into the same situation. Hope this week goes better!

Gas charge??
For what? Your car that they went joyriding in?
The loaner? Don't they provide it full and you return it full?
GRRRR..
I'd sit outside the dealership in my cruiser and wait calmly for the service manager... First mistake (if you look hard enough, you'll find one) pull him over...I'm really cutting you a deal here by only citing you for 3/4 of the violations I saw....
Are those DRUGS in the backseat...
LOL

The SA advised me of this charge prior to me leaving. I drove the car a total of about 110 miles and didn't put a drop of gas in it. If they're going to be that un-trusting at a volvo dealer, then they car put their own gas in it.

Unfortunately cschmelz I don't have any juristiction in Connecticut otherwise I would. Gas charge was for my car and I don't know what it was for. I am now targeting my anger at the oil industry for charging $3.45 for 93 octane...

I commend your even keel, I remember being recruited by the FBI when I left the Marines, I looked at the pay scale and laughed. So I have great respect for those willing to sacrafice for the greater good, thanks.
Now about your mirrors, wtf were thinking..4 hours! It took me and a friend 40 minutes to have them on the car and another 10 to pull the panel and install the button. Tops thats a 2 hour job, I'm no wrench so someone competent should be able to do it 1 hour. My God it's total 18 plastic snap pins, and 6 bolts...thats it. No wiring no nothing. Hell the hardest part was sliding off the stupid mirror cover ( found a bone tool and that became easy too)
Very frustrating to see people taken advantage of for simple things like this. BTW I wounder what the rate is for replacing the speaker in the door, its the same thing!
Sorry about your hit and run, may I suggest you use your nightstick officer?
