Couldn't find anything specific here, but found this on the v70r.com website:

For the year 2004...Total number of V70 R and S60 R imported to the U.S.

V70 R Auto = 1024
V70 R Man = 541

S60 R Auto = 1531
S60 R Man = 1931

Source: Volvo email

Not really production numbers, but at least numbers brought into the US.

The S60 numbers seem a bit low but I hope they're accurate.

2000 units below estimate??

Perhaps not. The total units is just over 5,000 (V and S) so that sounds about right.

Volvo 2003-2004 R numbers:
This thread:
5027 vehicles.
The Split:
S60R=68.8%
V70R=31.1%

These figures are in line with quoted production numbers going back to 2002.

Car and Driver Magazine - 2003 http://www.caranddriver.com/ar...ber=3:
"Roughly 5000 Rs are heading to the U.S.-70-percent sedans and 30-percent V70R wagons-and they're arriving now. Don't wait too long, or you may be stuck with a salesperson trying to unload a T5."

AutoIntell - 2002 http://www.autointell-news.com...n.htm:
"Volvo expects to sell 7,000 S60 R and V70 R cars a year, and the five largest markets are the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan and Sweden."

And of course, from these guys:
Swedespeed - 2004 http://www.swedespeed.com/news...age=3:
"So, do you like the look of the new R models and might you be considering putting one in your garage? Move quickly. This performance and technological bargain is slated for limited production. Volvo will build only 7500 examples worldwide and only 3800 planned for the USA. Of this 80% will be S60s and 20% V70s."
The 3800 vehicle estimate ended up being closer to the total just for the S60Rs.

Interesting. Across the whole U.S. supply, we are almost exactly 50/50 between automatic/manual. Among the [much more discriminating] members of this forum, I would be willing to bet that 6MT is in the lead by at least 70+ percent of the total. This is a much more enthusiast-oriented group than the whole set of 'R' purchasers.

Re: R Production Numbers (jelliotlevy)

Sounds about right.
Originally there were supposed to be around 4200 total units for the US with approx. 3500 S60s and 750 or so wagons.
Looks like they upped the wagon production

Yes, I would love to know exterior/interior colors, especially if we could find out by model and transmission choice, but that's probably asking too much.

Re: R Production Numbers (rqc)

I have an inquiry out to see if I can get some detailed production numbers for the '04 R cars. I'll post if I get more info.
