Since this is car related, I decided to put it in the car lounge! One of our new members (Michigan_S60), has a awesome site dedicated to his R/C Truck, with some good pics and vids as well. Darell made a great suggestion to put a new topic about R/C cars, maybe some of you all are into it as well.
When I was younger, I loved R/C and I would someday like to get back into it. It is my dream to one day have one of these, an HPI Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VI. Is this thing totally killer or what?

-Drew

Yeah, I've got a thing for the RC cars myself. I have had many 1/10 scale models ofer time. But my favorite will always be my FG Modelsport 1/5 scale Opel Calibera! I'll link some pics when I have a chance. Car weighs in at 23 lbs, has a 25cc 2-stroke gas motor. Drilled disk brakes and a 2-speed trans. Top speed is 82 MPH! Wild stuff.
Prospero

I have an HPI RS4 and use it purely as fun, and I have yet to understand how you can even see your car after it gets up to high speeds. Binoculars ?

It was always fun though

I couldn't afford anything "good" until I got my first job out of college, and finally plunked down the $300 or so for an RC-10 with all the trimmings. I raced it for two seasons, and ended up with a hobby-shop sponsor. But the endless drives to dirt tracks in the boonies got to me, and while winning was fun, playing with it in the street and back yard with friends was even more fun.
The thing that bugs me now, is that I see my nephews getting better cars than mine for their 12th birthday gifts! Pre-built totally turn-key units that just fly.
My most exciting drive ever was chasing the roach-coach down the parking lot at work one day. The truck suddenly stopped, and my RC-10 zipped completely underneath (this is all happending about 50 yards away). Since nobody could determine if my RC-10 had yet cleared the front of the truck, I gave it full left lock, and full throttle just as the truck started forward again. Eye-witnesses closer to the scene described how my RC-10 came shooting out from under the truck about an inch in front of the rear duals of the truck.
This all happened, of course, when my RC-10 was about a week old. whew.
