Well, I just got back from the dealer today and drove away with a big smile on my face.
I finally got the Evolve downpipe, straight pipe, sway bars, and cold air intake installed at the dealer. Topping Volvo was absolutely great. They charged me $830 for the whole thing, which was less than I expected. We talked for a while when I went to pick the car up. They all love the car there and are familiar with other work Evolve has done.
So here is a review from a guy who doesn't know near as much as Johann, "R" Kelly, JRL, JimLill, or any of the other great contributers on this forum. In fact, 2 years ago I didn't even care about cars all that much believe it or not. Volvo and Evolve sucked me in!
First of all, I can tell you that the car sounds better and pulls harder than it ever has before. As R_Rated once mentioned, the cabin is much quieter with the straight pipe. My friend followed me home in her TL, and she says that it does indeed sound louder from the outside. The loud "pops" I would sometimes get from the exhaust are all but gone now. For those of you getting the Evolve exhaust, I highly recommend getting the straight pipe too.
Sorry but I didn't do the G-tech thing between installing the parts. It was just too much of a pain for a single guy like me to coordinate all of that. However, I did do some unscientific testing against my friend's TL. There is a stop light in a 55 mph zone close to where I live. There are no side streets past the light for a long way, and there is a concrete divider separating us from the oncoming lanes. I ran against my friend's TL 6 speed there once from 0-55, and I was just barely pulling away from her. This time around, I was a full car length ahead of her, and I was pulling away fast. The car just wanted to keep going. It was hard backing off when I hit the speed limit.
As far as the sway bars go, I could definitely feel much less body roll. I took it through a roundabout and could definitely feel the difference. Highly recommended!
How does one measure the performance of the CAI? Evolve claimed at the time I got it that it would probably add about 5hp. Not only that, it looks and sounds very cool. It has a rain shield over the top of it, and there are holes in the bottom of the box for water to drain out.
So overall I am very happy with everything. I think I may be done modding folks. I am very happy with my experience with Volvo service and Evolve.

Cause I love mine more and more everytime I drive her.

Firstly, I want to add the fact that I Love my R...every day that I get behind the wheel I have a smile...it only pains me when it gets bumped around on the city streets when I bring it into the city. I agree with you both but I have to caution myself of my addiction. Just got back from talking with Robert at Rawbear performace..I think that he is going to be my Undoing as the first question he asked me was "AND what else do you want to do to her" If the average Lifespan for a Volvo is 18 years I am going to have a lot of fun for at least 16 more

I agree - Frank, we really need some newly updated photos of the R. Or, better yet, lets plan a NW GTG that you can attend.
- Tryg

Re: (23109VC)

I knew you were going to ask that. I got home late tonight. I'll post a picture later this week.
Mine looks exactly like this, except with a metal shield over the filter.
I decided not to do the intercooler pipes or blue hoses. Want them?

It's awesome!
Bring your favorite music too.

Well, come to our July R Bunch gathering. It will be a detailing tech session near Fife. More details later, stay tuned.
Remember, inquiring minds want to see the Hoffymobile.
I'll look forward to seeing you. We could park our cars next to each other; it would be just like Xmas

glad to see you got in all in! The reason I had so many miles on my R is cause I loved driving it so much. I would invent errands to run and go visit random freinds at work all the time!

Re: (R_Rated)

frank-
can't wait to se pics. i wish i was closer, i'd come by to see it.
i have the updated resonator...not the straight pipe. you are now the second person who says the straight pipe makes the car quieter....... R Rated said that too.
i assumed the resonated system would be quieter than the straight system...maybe i need to try the straight pipe? any power advantage by removing the resonator I have or will it only make a noise difference?
why diudn't you install the intercooler pipes.

When you accelerate hard and then let off the gas, you don't get a loud resonating sound in the interior.
On Evolve's site, they mention that there may be a power gain, but I'm guessing it will be minimal.

i've got the most updated resonator EVOLVE sells with their "advanced" exhaust. I had the older one which is shorter and it did resonate off throttle.... the newer resonator is longer, adn there is a lot less resonation...in fact I'd say it's gone....much much quieter.
i'd be intersted in the straight pipe..i wonder if it's just a bit louder....i almsot wonder if my car is TOO quiet..
