I'm wondering what is the recommended interval before we are required to replace the timing belt on the S40 2.4i
I'm about 68,500km (42k miles) on my ride now and it has not been changed before.
Is there any tell tale signs I can watch out for if the timing belt is giving way?

Re: Quick question on timing belt (Jonz)

Your fine bro, most volvo timing belts arent due till 105k lol. The S40 may even be longer interval than that. We havent replaced one due to miles yet haha. Did one last week but only because the front seals were leaking so replaced the belt while i was in there.

Re: (Jonz)

Uh i guess there could be signs of age. Possibly brittle or have some small stress cracks but usually just snaps if theres a fault lol. As long as you stick to the recommended maintenance intervals i havent seen too many fail prematurely unless theres another fault like this ladies that had oil all over the belt.
