Took my car in for a routine service and asked them to perform the brake squeal fix. Service writer was clueless "never heard of that in 13 years working on Volvos". I told him it was an R specific fix. He told me that he might charge me. I told him if he charges me, don't bother, but check the computer.
Is there a TNN for this or just a part number? Shouldn't this be covered under warranty?
BTW, there are not one but TWO '06 Sonic Blue S60R's WITH the factory body kit at Danbury Volvo. Unfortunately both are GT's. Both have Nordkap. They are both listed for 38,995. One has 4,500 miles, the other has 6,500. If you look on their website, they are just listed as S60's (one is listed as Adriatic Blue duh!). They are both CPO's with the 100k warranty.
I thought you couldn't get the factory body kit in Sonic Blue?
Thanks guys.

Modified by needsdecaf at 7:34 AM 4-18-2006

Re: Quick Help needed, please. (needsdecaf)

Your service write is an idiot. See that's the thing that's f'in pissing me off with these types of people. They are used to the usual person that is absolutely clueless who doesn't know where the hoodlatch is and completely entrusts their car to the service writer. Whatever the writer says goes. BS!!!
YES, IT'S FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AND YES THERE IS A TNN ON IT. You're writer is too f'in lazy to look it up. I can find it on volvotechinfo.com
Brakes Squeak- PAD PART NUMBER: 30645135. 1161-BG brake paste.
Starting W10 '05 a special "Vibration damper" will be available to prevent brake noise at the front . The part number 30748514 consists of a plate which needs to be mounted at the back of the caliper mounting point on the hub, behind the bolts.
Drawings indicate that the plate makes a more rigid construction for the caliper.
UPDATE: Here if your service writer is so 'fin lazy to find it:
http://www.geocities.com/mike_...0.pdf
I called it in and spoke to a different SW, so hopefully all goes well.
BTW all, you should have seen what this guy said when I mentioned that I had experienced the rain squeal...he said that it was probably from water going into the engine compartment, that it couldn't possibly be exhaust related. When I told him, no there is a known issue of the center resonator hitting the driveshaft, he looked at me like I was an idiot and said, well I just work here but I don't know everything. I said, well I don't know everything either, but I do know this is an issue. Look up the TNN. I gave them that one too.
WTF?
Please, someone give me a good Volvo dealer in the NY area!! I haven't even lived here or owned the R for 6 months and I'm on the second one already!
