Hi, I'm picking up an '04 flash green w/ atacama tomorrow. It's completely stock so I have a lot of plans for it but a few questions:

Can anyone recommend a good aftermarket navigation system? I'd prefer a stereo/nav unit but Crutchfield says nothing will fit this car

How much do the 18" Pegasus wheels weigh?/ Has anyone put 19 or 20" wheels on their R?

Thanx

Sadly, there arent a lot of easy options but some are available. Search around here....some people have modded garmins to fit the in dash unit....I use an ipad and a mount....

As far as weight of wheels, I know someone around here knows an exact number but I think it's mid 40's.

There are 19" pegs available through IPDUSA....not sure about "dubs".

anything double din will fit, you just need the s60 double din kit. You would also want to pick up the wires to make the steering wheel controls work. There are several threads that explain everything you need, just do a search.

that might help.

i believe 18" pegs weigh 28lbs each

19 and 20" rims fit, but the wheel selection for our cars is pretty poor.

congrats on the purchase, be sure to post up some pics when after you pick her up!

What's wrong with 20's? A few people have had great success with 20's and lighter than Pegs. I personally own 19's and 20's and I think my 20's look good...

OP,
as some mentioned, you just need to get a dash kit (like most any other car for aftermarket radios), they have dash kits for single and double din size. I run a custom setup for pop up dash system and single din pop up system. Options are out there, just figure you want a single or double din, get the kit, then find the radio you want!

Congrats on the car purchase, post some pictures when you get it.

I guess 20's just don't appeal to me on the R. I mean if that's what the OP wants then go for it. Just watch for potholes as those will be some thin tires.

20s are fine for show, but if your going to drive the streets and drive the R like it should be, you might want to stay more stock size. Nothing worse than having to "baby" the car as you drive it around. That's best left for vintage show cars.

Iphones make a great Nav. Spend the extra $ on performance mods.

True, though we should be avoiding them regardless, even the stock Pegs crack a lot!

I, probably like most, really don't change how I drive with my stock 18's as winter set or my 20's (which is lighter than Pegs) as summer set - I avoid the pot holes the same and curbs too for that matter, and I still get on it good when free spiriting.

OP,
Our R is right, most phones makes up for what factory NAV lacks in a big way. I travel a lot and get rental cars when I travel (for work) and I use my phone with a dash vent clip primarily - woks great! Pending your budget, this is a good option.

Dennis probably has the best setup for using an aftermarket GPS unit, his work is awesome! Here is what I opted:

My summer 20's too for that matter, they're SSW; My 19" are Vanillas in hyper silver.

tuscani66,

Go any pics of your 20" wheels straight on from the side? And what size tires are you running on the 20s?

Nope, the Vanillas are still in its original boxes sitting in the garage. :)
The tires are 235/35/19

VERY nice, but Why would there be a need for 2 GPS screens in one car?

I don't think that the stereo unit has GPS. Like the vinyl work, looks clean.
You guys got it reversed... My car did not come with factory GPS, I put that monitor in there and have it activated as a secondary monitor and my reverse cam monitor (with it automatically activating, if it was off, when I go into reverse and it raises up, shows my back up, when I go back into gear, it lowers back down and turns off... unless ofcourse I have it on.

My radio is my DVD, bluetooth, GPS and all that jazz. Usually when I have using my GPS I have my dashboard monitor showing my SD card, or iPod, files/songs/playlist/etc. Or when stuck in traffic I play movies on my dashboard monitor haha (not while driving ofcourse! :) )

Thanks Denis, appreciate it! I'll be making the dashboard monitor area out of Carbon Fiber by end of this summer, vinyl work was to hid my cutting and modifying of the speaker grill.

Thanks for the pics. Those particular 20's really look very balanced on your car. The rim color is perfect! And the shine on the caR is awesome!!! Next time you see your car can you post your tire size?

I don't remember if you've said. Do you track your car?
Who's springs?
Do you have a thread with your front spoiler detail? I like that it matches the car and looks different from most.

PS: Just realized you're in Pittsburgh, PA. This is the first year I don't go there to compete in BodyBuilding. They hold the National Championships there very September.
