Questions about 2004 R / now for 05 questions

What is a good price to buy an 04 R with MT with about 20K-24K from a dealer? What options were available for that year? What problems are the 04's known for, if any? What is the difference from year to year is it just cosmetic?

I would check http://www.kbb.com and NADA guide online and you'll have a very good idea of a "fair" price. Most diffrences were cosmetic (body color side moldings, diff. rear valance, some interior trim changes). Some 04's were speed limited to 130MPH by "mistake". Other than that and axle ping, I havent had any issues.

I was offered $27K wholesale for my 16K car about two months ago.
P.S. - SEARCH is your friend.

Asking prices for 2004 CPOs with 20k to30k miles are around $30k on autotrader.com. Your negotiating skills should be able to get you into the upper 20's. It is really going to depend on how long the cars have been on the dealer's lot.

Re: (needsdecaf)

Should it be CPO? I'm sure this has come up many of times but how much faster is the MT over the GT?

I'm not worried about the resale, we'll have the car for at least 5 years or so and by that time the 150k miles we'll have on it will be the biggest factor.
As for CPO / non-CPO, I bought the Volvo Warranty after the fact, and it cost about $500 less than if I had bought the same car CPO. It is, I believe, pretty much the same warranty, correct?
In any case it allowed me to expand my search of cars outside of the CPO range, which was a plus. If I had found what I wanted, I would have bought a CPO car, but we wanted Nav and it was hard to find

Re: Questions about 2004 R / now for 05 questions (S40 T5R)

How about Xenons on the 05's are they standard? Does the free scheduled maintenance apply to R's. It stinks not having a window sticker.
