I would really prefer to ditch the electric antenna all together, and go with a short antenna wrapped in a black rubber substance. Has anyone done this "mod," and for what, if anything, should I look out? Thanks <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/wink.gif" BORDER="0">

Re: question about replacing electric radio antenna on a '92 240 (1sciroccofahrer)

its not diffcult to do at all. If you look in the trunk you have your typical antenna wire with a motorola connector plus one power wire. Any aftermarket (or oem manual) antenna that you get will have a female motorola connector on it, so just plug it in and tape up the single power wire and leave it hanging.
