I just purchased a 2003 C70 with the Premium Audio which included the 12 speaker Dynaudio speaker. I can not figure these 12 speakers are located. The most important question are there 2 subs behind the seats. If so how are they powered. Thanks

There's only 10 in the coupe. My coupe...
The only way I can see 12 in the convertible is two subs behind the rear seat, two in the side of the back seat, 4 in the doors, 2 on the dash and 2 in the centre speaker.

Re: (C70drvr)

Volvo counts the center speaker as one and Passionc70 does not have one:
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=122926

Re: (C70drvr)

There are 2 piece components in the rear side panels, so without a center channel but with the rear subs, that makes 12.

Re: (LloydDobler)

Note that not every system was ProLogic and had a center channel--hence, an odd number speaker count, too.
This gets confusing because the SC-901 was used for both the ProLogic and non-ProLogic systems, i.e. the presence of an SC-901 is not an indicator that the system has ProLogic.
If the car has a center dash speaker, and it's hard to miss, and an SC-901, it probably has the Dolby processor behind the HU--and a PL sound MODE option.
It appears that no cars were delivered with a center dash speaker and no PL, i.e. an odd number speaker count and only the 3-channel mode.
As far as the sub option goes, they are behind the rear seat and the tip-off is a on/off toggle switch on the backside of the center console facing the rear seat.

Here's here's the centre speaker. Notice the tweeter, so you would think it counts as two.

Upon further inspection, my coupe does have 12 speakers.

Re: (C70drvr)

Yes, it has a separate tweeter. However, Volvo considers it to be a single speaker and we have to do the same when comparing it to their literature or window stickers.
This isn't about audio technology, it is accounting and Volvo is making the rules.
