I didn't opt to pay the extra money upfront to purchase a T5 (regret it) but that's how it goes. So therefore I am not looking for any kind of track, racing or performace tires. I would just like to know everyones opinion on some reliable, efficient, long lasting tires for our babies? I'm on the original set of tires that came on my s40 and they've lasted me a little past my 45,000 mile service. Has anyone found a reliable, inexpensive tire that i could purchase and say not have to worry about replacing for a good 50,000 miles or so? Any imput will be appreciated.

Re: Quality Tires (heil)

You might try posting this question for Oscar (with forum sponsor TireRack) in the Tire and Wheel forum http://forums.swedespeed.com/zeroforum?id=21. I've bought Dunlop snows and Yokohama a/s tires from him and have been very satisified with the recommendations. You might also have a look at tirerack.com for LOTS of info.

Michelin Hydro Edge will serve you very well by the sounds of it. It's tough to get a BAD tire in today's market, but if someone isn't terribly brand loyal, I usually try to sell them a better tire from their vehicle's OEM supplier. Michelin is an OEM for Volvo, so the Hydro Edge comes to mind.
Al

Avon M Tech's (tire rack) get great reviews - just put some on my car yesterday and initial imopressions are extremely positive. My car is now radically queiter than with the ****ty stock Michelins I had. Cornering grip (limited experience) seems very good. Added bonus: the quitness o fthe ride has given me an effective sound system upgrade

Re: Quality Tires (heil)

I have purchased Bridgestone Turanza LS-V 215/50/17. These are the best tires I've ever owned on any of my cars. They are even better than the Michelin Pilot AS. I highly recomend these tires. They isolate road noise, cracks in asphalt like nothing I've ever had. The only tire that compares is the Toyo RA-1 (in noise and bump absorption). They corner awesome, I've had Toyo TPT for a 30 day trial before, complete garbage.
Bridgestone Turanza LS-V are the best tires I've owned, I highly recomend them, and no I don't work for Bridgestone.
They are a little more expensive than others, but worth every penny

An RA-1 is a r-compound race tire. Quiet... ? Definitely not. They pick up debris off the road like a street sweeper and thus are quite noisy...
