Re: Purchase more options at pick-up (Charles847)

They have a whole catalog of stuff that mostly matches the web site's list of accessories for your model, such as this one for the V50.
http://www.volvocars.us/models/v50/Accessories.htm
Having said that, I ordered shade screens for the rear windows of my V50, which I don't see on the web site.

Charles.....

When you arrive at the factory delivery center, you will check in at the front desk (tell Pardis and Hans I said "hej"). You will see a long wall with the brochures for every model and accessory brochures for each model as well...in 4-5 languages! You will probably have a few minutes to kill in the waiting area while they pull your car into the delivery area. That is a good time to browse through the accessories. If there are items you want...you can ask your delivery person to price them for you. If it something simple...they may be able to install it while you are eating lunch or on the factory tour. If it is something that requires more install time...they will install it when you turn the car in for home shipment, so that it will be there for you when it gets to your US dealer.
They usaually have some sort of special deal going for various items. Just ask for them when you check in.
Enjoy your trip!

We had the sport steering wheel and floor mats (on special) installed while we went to lunch and the factory tour. We also had them enable the "all windows down" feature using the remote for no charge.

Re: Purchase more options at pick-up (cmy4x4)

Charles847,
I had the trunk storage bin installed in my S40. It took over an hour--the only frustrating part of the entire experience. I asked to get one on each side, but they're only available for the left side and it took a long time to get this info, let alone for the install. If you're thinking of ordering any extras, do it right away before the lunch, tour and writing free postcards.
Though I replied to your question about the front plate, let me also add this. My Chicago dealer (located just off the Kennedy, but I won't name names--and you're 847, not 312) removed the little S sticker on the rear window as part of the local dealer prep. Your dealer should keep the red plates for you, but be sure to ask if you want to keep the S sticker. OSD puts it on the rear window so its easy for you to scrape off at a later date.
Good luck.

Thanks Steve:
Actually, I'm buying form that same dealer off the Kennedy. The sales experience has been good so far. Thanks for the sticker info. I might want to leave it on.

If that happens, you can always ask the FDC to give you a couple of extra "S" stickers while you are in Sweden. I got a few extra because I did scrape the edge of one (trying to get frost off the window) and replaced it with the new one. They gladly gave me a few more.
I gave the dealer one as well because when I went to pick up my car there was a V70 that had the rear window broken and the hatch dented while taking it off the transport truck. I overheard them talking and saying that it will be easy to fix but don't have any "S" stickers. I spoke up and said I got a few extra from the FDC and gave them one. In return, I got some free downloads from VANDIS.
Tom

One more thing, try and get a price list from the dealer and see if the options installed at the factory are cheaper than at the local dealer. I don't think that the FDC changes for installation where the dealer will (i.e. installing the mudflaps, the factory was more expensive for the part but installed free so in the end, it was cheaper)
Tom

Re: Purchase more options at pick-up (vizsladriver)

While waiting for my meatballs at the OSD center, I had them install the iPod adapter and the floor and cargo area mats for my XC70. Prices seemed good (about $250 for the iPod and $130 for the mats). Their prices are in kroner, of course, so the exchange rate will affect things somewhat. Prices for the iPod adapter also vary depending on your type of vehicle.
There were no problems getting the install done in a timely fashion. Since I neglected to pack a hat, I also picked up a nice "Volvo for Life" cap for about $6.
