I know... I know... I was going to put this in the off topic forum, but the delima does include an 850... so, what the heck...
aaaanyway, prom is this weekend, and I have the opportunity to take my cuz's earily 70's M-B Coupe... (Think its a 200C or something like that) Its in mint condition so the heat and everything work, but I was curious to hear (though there are a low supply of ladies on this forum) whether you think I should take the classic original Benz or stick to the modern, refined 850...?

Well, if I were the girl's father, I'd say the M-B coupe. Never let your daughter go out in a car that can be made into a bed (855, for instance). ;-)

I think it depends on your sense of style. I'd think it'd be really cool to drive up in a 'classic' M-B, so that's my style I guess. You prolly won't see many of those on prom night.

I took my date out to the Sr. Prom (this was in '88) in a '34 Ford coup hot rod (LT1 motor, 'Vette suspension, Centerlines, black/tan, lots of chrome) that I was lucky enough to borrow from my father's best friend. Now, that was a nice ride to take.

A 50s Volvo would be really neat to take also!

Hey man,

I'm takin my mom's Porsche to the prom... now that's style.

If I had the choice between the classic M-B and the 855, I'd take the 850. Mainly, BECAUSE you have a bacseat, and also if some r1cer wants to mess with you, you can lay the smack down... haha, and get some MORE respect from your girlfriend.

I think I would take the Benz as well, but that would be freaking hilarious, especially on prom night.

I say the wagon for sure. Just because you can haul ass in it. Its not like people are gonna say bad things either way. It's your choice really. If its not cold, you could find some nice place, put up the back door, and lay down on a nice outlook of something, like a high view of the city.

first off thanks for the input...
but here are some things to make my senior prom a little more interesting...
-I don't have a wagon.... (not that I would want to sleep in my car... been there done that... never again... nor do I recommend it
)
-The Benz still has a back seat, but the next tidbit will take care of that...
-Turns out I'm not taking my gf to prom...
see... I asked a friend from another school to go, then since then I have gotten closer to this other girl... and since we both already had dates and mine didn't know her date, (can't swap) we just decided to go as it was and it'l be all good.
As for the ***** , who needs to race? We will automatically know who is cooler and who the true pimp is
All I need now is my pimp cane and afrosheen! I'll post some pix when I get them back. I think i'm going with the benz... There are several 850s at our school, and I think being original is key... I went with the white dinner coat too... Welp, off to bed, getting late....

HAHA, you know what man, the first time I checked it, that´s exactly what I read. Great minds think alike...

But, neways... good luck, and have a good time at the prom man.

I'd go Benz. Nothing against the 850 at all, but you're more likely to be the only one there with an old Benz coupe than you are the only one there in an 850.

Plus, don't go racing on prom night. Date's in the car, her safety in mind, and many will be drinking. It's just not wise.

I'm not a Benz guy, but it sounds like the classy move.

MB all the way. In '84 I took a borrowed 40's Plymouth CONVERTIBLE to my prom. What a car.... Well we came out from our fancy dinner and the damn thing had a flat. Ever try changing one of those huge freakin wooden spoke tires while in a white tux?

GD POS

Called Mom and had her bring my 80 Honda Accord Hatch.... ayup..... what he said about the 855
