As some of you might know, I have been working on some supreme trickery to make a fully functional projector retrofit for our cars that will not set off all of the holiday lights on the cluster and still work with our suspension/leveling/whatever systems.
I have been jumping from project to project and have had the bracket marked and ready to cut to shape for my first true test fit, but have not gotten the motivation to have small shards of aluminum splattered across my 'workshop.' Reading everyone's 'doom and gloom' about the R lamps in the "Ask VCNA" thread, I wonder, how much interest is there REALLY?
The idea is simple - take out the whole DRL housing and internal 'bracket' from the factory headlamp, detach all of the headlamp internals, replace most of them onto a CNC'ed plate that will re-attach to factory mounting points, and affix a fancy bi-xenon projector. If you are feeling fancy, you can do some Bondo work to the silver 'shroud' inside the lamp, or some other sort of visual modification to hide the new innards.
That being said, once the lamp is off the car and the glass is separated from the housing (that's the tricky part), the rest would be very simple and 'plug and play.' How many folks would be interested in actually buying a 'kit' to do this themselves? How much would you be willing to pay?
The only caveat, at the moment as I have not addressed the issue at all (not meaning that it can't be done) is that the DRL would be disconnected. If I do make further progress, I can most likely find a way to fit a bulb (or resistor) to accommodate the DRL?
