Project V70R Gets a touch of chrome

I installed Volvo's chrome mirror caps this evening, about a 10min job. I pulled the mirror out to get easy access. Grab the outter edge of the mirror and then "slide" the mirror towards you; pull from the inside towards the outside; there are clips on the back of and the mirror essentially on a little "track" with a spring towards the inside.

I'll have to see how they look in the sunlight. I think brushed aluminum cap might be more attractive.

Another concern is when washing or removing bugs, etc. the surface may easily show scratches.

Volvo Part Numbers.

next up, a little window tint. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

yeah - when they were wrapped in the plastic they had that look. I took them out and wow, they are shiny.

A pic of THE CAR with the mirrors not just the mirrors would be helpful

I remember seeing chrome door handles on a bunch of PR pics of S60s. I'm wondering if those are orderable and if so, what's the number.

I think chrome handles will help the sideviews match the rest of the car.

Re: Project V70R Gets a touch of chrome (Sue Esponte)

List price: $75.76

I'm going to try an shoot a couple picts this morning once the sun is up a bit. Those were quick shots after the install.

I may try to see if I can get them more of a brushed look but they are plastic. The quality seems fine but I too am concerned about durability. Time will tell and I'll keep everyone updated.

I like 'em. And not just because JRL doesn't
. I would get a scotch brite pad and buff them out though, or order them in brushed. Do they offer them in brushed look?
I didn't say that at all so why would you say that?

I like the chrome against Sonic Blue, I just want to SEE THEM in relationship with the wagon, not just them alone in a tight shot. I've seen them on black, knew on red they would be horrible, but they are a natural with the blue

I like them until I see the Ti-Peg in the corner of the photo. I think the regular silver pegs might go with chrome accents a little better IMHO.

Brushed aluminium would work bettern IMO.

And a word of warning when pulling the glass out of the housing. Do not do it when it's cold outside. I managed to crack my passenger side glass pulling it out. It had a broken heating element so I didn't mind, but it did crack.

Chris, do you know how much the stock covers go for??? For only 75 bucks, I may consider having a set stripped of chrome and recovered in blue/black carbon kevlar. Obviously if the price lines up with the OEM parts, using those would be cheaper and cleaner.

...and my vote is for the brushed look on yours to echo the interior
.
