83caddy16v, I saw your post at vwvortex about the dyno day at Curry's. If you still need more people, you might want to post here since there are a bunch of people in the VA/MD area. I'm sure some of them might be interested.

George, are you giving up on the R or what? Performance not as good as an audi, or vw. Seems like you just bought the car not to long ago. Will you have another project car you will be working on for swedespeed? Please tell me you found a sweet 855R and you going to mod the hell out of it. If not then, if you don't mind me asking how much are you looking to get for your car. I'm just curious. Thanks.

We have, but have not run, an exhaust writeup and european sidemarkers. I'd love to keep the project going beyond that (if I could find a local buyer interested I could), but my wife and I are trying to minimize expenses before we start doing some major home restoration next summer. What I save in payments will be my new kitchen.

We've already replaced it with a 245 of 1990 vintage. It's a great car, and I'm going to run it as a project car also, but much more upkeep and light upgrade oriented. No crazy engine mods are in store for it yet. We're working on (gotta find time to shoot the darned thing) another 240 project by an owner here locally in DC that will be much more performance oriented.

I was asking $19,900, which I thought was fair for the car (55K miles, in good shape, plus mods and snow tires/wheels). It's not moving though, and I am guessing that's because of the current new car rush. I'm dropping it to $18,900 and relisting tonight on several online classifieds and will be following that up with a listing on the Washington Post.

I'd really like to sell it to a local volvophile so we could keep the project going. There is so much more you could do to the car, but my time with it is nearing an end.

George, Those are very good reasons and I won't hold it against you for selling the R

I'm also in the process of wraping up my kitchen remodel and as I'm sure you will find out, it is expensive. But if it makes the wife happy It's worth it right? $18900 sounds like a good deal to some one that can apriciate the mods you have done and the car in general for what it is. Good luck with the kitchen and I hope the R finds a good home. Thanks

So what did Kai (One N Only) do to the motor on his C70? Did he upgrade the rods, turbo etc? How is it holding up?
Sorry for being a bit lazy, but you can probably search on the 800 series section, and find my whole list of upgrades. Not that impressive, but pretty much everything you can think of and more.

Everything is holding up okay, except for the crappy tranny. And I have the 5 speed manual. I don't think I will have any money left to do anything...not even dyno session. This whole ordeal has sucked me dried.

Plus, I doubt I would want to find out how much more my car can do and ruin another tranny. Maybe Rob can comment on the little run we did in my car last time.

That looks like a typo to me. Hah, that'd be pretty nuts though huh? 300km/h is like 180mph right? So that'd make 360 like 216mph. Even if an 850 could go that fast, I don't think I'd want to be piloting it. It doesn't exactly have the aerodynamics I'd want at those kind of speeds.

I dunno. I was lookin for it a while ago to tell some guys that 850's were good cars but no luck. I sware I read that though and it said somthin around the lines of the 850 series has a drag coefficient around _____ I don't know how the VOlvo engineers pulled it off though.

Yes, Kai's car was pretty strong...haha. That was before it was even finished breaking in. I can't imagine once he turns the boost up. A nice surge of power, just pulls. Great brakes too!

George-the 262/242 swap is almost complete...still trying to sort out some running issues. Been driving the blue 242 on the street lately...have a semi-exhaust system on it now too, for those guys who heard it without one.

Oh my God...you are driving that car on the road!? Hehehee..that is one obnoxious ride, those who heard it would know. So what kinda semi exhaust system are you talking about? BTW, did you get the new headers for the car yet?

I'm still very interested about that engine mount you have on that car. I wonder if that is something everyone can do on their 240s..

I'm also very curious how these Malaysian and Thai mechanics can just drop any engine into these cars that easily. I'm anticipated to see my housemate finish his project of converting his 245 with a Skyline engine. That should be very interesting. And the sick part is...the whole project including labor, parts, and other misc....only costs $3K~!!!! Also they can pretty get everything done w/n 3 weeks period.

Hey Rob, shoot me an email when it is back on the road. I'd like to shoot it. I'm wondering though if we shouldn't just do it as a feature car as it is well along in its developement now.

Kai, a Skyline motor in the Volvo? Now I've heard of everything. I just spent the holiday weekend in my 245. Man, is that car in need of a major power upgrade.
