So, I've started to noticed this thing about my car: it doesn't feel fast anymore!
It's still got plenty of zip in it and takes off like a rocket in 2nd gear, but I've become used to it... Maybe things will get better in the summer when I can drive around with the windows open (Or maybe I'll have to join you crowds of people constantly making your cars faster and faster! )

Change your air filter, do an oil change and wash it.
This will most certainly give you more HP (mental HP that is)!!

Well, I did the fuel filter and the air filter, and that seemed to help. Then I did the plugs. Woo-wee! The old ones were worn down to a gap of ~1mm. The new ones were pregapped at ~0.7mm, and boy does it make a difference! I can get the car rolling from a standstill with just releasing the clutch (slowly) now. Definite improvement!

Re: "Problem" with my car!!!1 (JRL)

Well, it's faster now than it has ever been! (And hopefully more efficient?)
So, what about the warmer weather makes it slower? It can't cool down as efficiently?

Re: "Problem" with my car!!!1 (StarmanDXE)

Cars (in general) like colder, denser air. Bigger/better explosion in the chamber. Turbo's LOVE cool air, because hot air can lead to heat soak.
Heat soak is when the intercooler can't dissipate the heat that it absorbs from the turbo fast enough. When an intercooler can't cool the charge air by removing the heat from it, it loses its effectiveness. So, our turbo Volvos tend to run slower or have slightly less power when the weather is warm.
Thats why they have things like water injection, and other novel ways to try and cool the car underhood.

Alright. I just wasn't sure that the compressibility of air changed that much with temperature. But, if they're going to put an intercooler on there, I guess it has to be warranted...

Just beause it gets hot and the car slows down doesn't mean it's broken

I'm just saying: they wouldn't have bothered putting an intercooler in there if it didn't do anything
