I'd say it's sick and a trip to the dealer is in order--especially if it's under warranty.

Try this first. Turn your key to -0-, wait 5 mins then disconnect the battery. Wait 15-20 mins, then reconnect it. Maybe resetting the electrics will do it.

Agree - I might add - After reconnecting the battery, lock and unlock the car with the remote... per the 05 owner's manual. Check your manual as the reconnecting battery procedure may be different for your MY.
What year is your car?

I might still have an extra headunit for a 2004.

ill take that. mine doesnt like to eject cds anymore.
Re: (mpdbrown)

These are known to have a congenital defect, a ribbon cable connecting the changer to the rest of the HU prematurely failed. Volvo had a TNN and replaced many under warranty.

I've also rebuilt a 4-cd changer transport mechanism when one of the cd holders went off track. Don't throw out that old HU it might be repairable--although the ribon cable is not openly available.
Re: (MrTippy)

When mine doesn't eject, I give it a few good whacks with my fist and it backs down and coughs up the cd. It only happens after its been in use for a long time (like long road trips).

my car is a 2006
Re: (Stoobey)

I think that by '06 they may have made a change that fixed the ribbon problem, i.e. it was more an HU-803 problem. But don't quote me. My comment about rebuilding was directed to mpd.

Stoobey, I would do the reset & key dance, 1st; the most obvious solution is often the right one.

I found that partially inserting another cd, credit card, or other flat object (thin knife if it's really annoyed me) will pop out the offending cd. It just slides out on the top or bottom of the partially inserted cd. This has worked for at least two of my R's when they get grouchy.

Has any work been done recently in or around the head unit? What other infotainment equipment do you have? Navigation, Bluetooth, iMIV, Jukebox, Volvo iPOD,etc? Sounds like a conflict with Melbus.

I assume since it is an 2006, it has the HU850?
