2 weeks ago I went to delaer with this problem:

There is rattling a noise on the shift knob between 3000-4500 rpm especially on the 3 rd and 5 th gear. While the noise can be heard,if I move the gear stick a very little to backwards, the noise is such less.

The delaer told me that this problem is because of the gear shift cable between the gear stick and transmission under the hood.

I wanted to solve this problem before installing the E90 knob, becasue the dealer could blame the knob!!!

Anyway, are there anyone who had similar problem?

Re: Problem on Gear Shift Cable. (xenophobic)

Your car is a rather current model year, isn't it?
There is a TNN concerning a buzzing shifter for 2004 models, the remedy is a different set of shifter cables.
Newer models should already have them. Perhaps they, too, need adjustment?

Sorry,what isTNN?My car is 2004 R?

TNN is a technical service bulletin in Volvo-speak. Actually Tech Net Notes

TNN43-40-2004-03-03 Buzzing Noise from M66 Shifter, S60R/V70R

Also the post mentioned above has the exact part numbers needed.

Sorry I wrongly assumed your car was newer. I should have paid closer attention to the pics you posted earlier with your new shift knob.
