1983 240 flat hood coupe...
with a 4.6 OHV Cobra engine with a Ford 5 speed manual trans and a Ford 9" rear.
Rust free body is decent, (I suppose it could use paint to make it perfect)
Interior needs a little work and the dash is cracked in several places.
Cool Volvo OEM wide wheels.
Anyone have an inkling what this could be worth?

It really comes down to condition more then anything else and if its been Dynod and what HP its putting down.

Re: (Chilled Man)

YOU have no idea about this one.
Not worth anywhere near your upper price unless it was a full pop show car AND you had a buyer who wanted THAT car, (highly unlikely).
It runs and drives but it's just a stock 4.6, (305 hp)

Re: (Chilled Man)

How much does it weigh?

Seriously, it's worth whatever you can get someone to write a good check for. The real obstacle is finding a buyer.

What Bob said.

Still, it all depends on where the car will be run. In states like ours, the state is very strict on engine swaps and will most likely be caught in the biennial smog check as not being the original engine of the car. Then (theoretically) all the smog gear off of the original Cobra had better be on the 240 so it could be smogged as the model year of the Cobra engine. This includes everything from the EVAP gear, to air pump (if any), factory cats, etc. That motor in the engine bay will be a big red flag for the smog check station. (Here, at least)

Now, if this was a track-only car, fine, anyone could take it.

But it seems to me that if you want this to be a street-legal car, the market will be limited to those states where the car could be legally run, and also to those buyers who don't mind the extra mods. If anything, the mods could actually cause the car to be worth less than the drivetrain components. The wear on the interior hinders things, too.

Put it on ebay and see what happens. That's really the best way to find out.

Re: Price? Clueless on this one (JPL Guy)

It can run in many states, if not all.
All moot anyway, the owner (who lives in WA). has decided to come pick it up and haul it back to the West Coast, finish it out and drive it
