is anyone having problems with door panels vibrating from low bass frequency? i bought the premium sound with the optional subwoofer, and the car buzzes (no, the speakers are not blown, i checked) i'm thinkin that volvo didn't think about the acoustics when adding the extra base and how the low frequency sound would interact with the cars interior, or am i missing something??? (like door panel insulation that was supposed to be installed... )

Re: premium sound with the subwoofer (lawst)

Well, with the three Volvo's I've owned, they all seem to be very well insulated in the door panels. All three are/were equipped with premium sound.
If you're under warranty, take it in and have them hear it. If your warranty is out, take the panel off and check for any loose panels or seals around the speaker enclosure.
Probably an easy fix.
Tim

You defintely have a screw loose (really.
I've owned two both with Subs and never had a problem.
You may not think you have a bad speaker but you may. If you think the are all OK
start isolating where the noise (s) are coming from.
You also can't go wrong if you dynamat (all) the doors and the spare area where the sub resides

Re: premium sound with the subwoofer (JRL)

i figure i will let them figure out what's making the buzzing, if it is door noise, or a bum speaker.
if they can't fix it, then i will check into getting the dynamat. i plan on getting some of that for
my porsche, so i'll wait to see what volvo sevice has to say before i order any. ya know, they make
that stuff for the home as well... now THAT is cool! bye bye barking neighbor dogs...

Re: premium sound with the subwoofer (JRL)

When my V70 was brand new it was the narrow trim strips on the inside of the driver and front passenger's door. These are held in place by nothing more substantial than press-on "grippy washers" (I'm sure there is a more correct term!) that slide over a number of studs protruding from their reverse face. The trim strips buzzed like hell with deep bass.
Before effecting repair, I narrowed down the cause by gently touching the trim strip (which I could of course feel pulsing from the bass!) whereupon the buzzing ceased.
Although repair is easy, as yours is a new car this is something to feed your dealer.
Perhaps unlikely with such a new car, but a quick Google also revealed this Volvo fix: http://volvoxc.com/resources/h...e.pdf
