Re: Premium sound upgrade (Yuri)

Interesting - I thought that the speakers in the XC-90 used some sort of optical interface that made replacing them with aftermarket not feasible. Is that wrong - can you simply plug new speakers into the wire pigtail?
Also, can you share exactly what the speakers were that you installed (brand and model)?
Thanks for the info.

The speakers are normal. What's different is the link between the head unit, the tuner and the amplifier, which are made with fiber.
ig_mb is right- speakers use regular wires, so you can replace them w/o big problems.
Front tweeters were replaced w/ Boston Acoustics 1" tweeters that came with their own crossovers http://www.bostonacoustics.com...d=323
Rear tweeters were replaced w/ 2" midrange drivers UP2.5 from DLS:
http://www.dls.se/images/highres/UP25_04_F.jpg
Front and rear speakers were attached to the metal behind original grills, so no modification is seen. BA crossovers attached to the doors under plastic panels.
Front tweeters required removing the door panels, in the rear the grills pop out easy, no panel removal needed.
