PRe-CaRlisle R DRive in PA

Was that enough capital R's in the title? I don't think I missed any.

Anyhow, I know I know...this isn't per se the right place, but in an effort to be seen, I wanted to throw the idea out there of a pre-Carlisle R drive in either North East PA or SE/Phila area. I have done a little searching online and this seems to be the highest concentration of nice roads to drive in the Keystone state. Not to mention, I think we've have some nice success in these areas in the past in terms of turnout. I am happy to do the legwork, but I vote a weekend in April other than the 25th-26th (busy that one).

How about Saturday the 18th or Sunday the 19th of April? There are a few potential routes we could take according to some scenic driving websites I have found. We could stop for pics, enjoy the signs of spring (like budding trees and heat soak), and enjoy something to eat and some good company after.

I will be in a class from 9-19 April, otherwise I would go for sure!

I'm loving the idea... I'd prefer a Saturday, if possible. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

You know I'm in man.
Ok cool. Sounds like a Saturday it is then! I was researching this a little more today at work (shame on me). I will post some links ot some possible routes and we can look at what will work best for us.

Good idea!

I am waiting for the final date to settle before I commit, but for now mark me down as a solid maybe
m3ntos - should we organize another doylestown meet for 4/18?
My own feeling is that since a meet there just occurred that we should try someplace different. I have found a couple of places in say the Allentown area for instance that might offer some cool relatively unpopulated roads. Motorcycle riders have this stuff pretty well figured out and I have been reading some of their sites. Thoughts?
Yeah that sounds good. We could even have a few of us meet up in Lancaster or somewhere and drive up to allentown too. Hey were you on Rt30 W today around 3?

This looks cool! If a road is so good that it has it's own website, then it must be good...

Being originally from the rural areas around allentown those roads are hit or miss - there is a lot more traffic than you expect and they are not very well cared for - that said some are AWESOME. Which ones were you thinking? http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Re: (Bender)

Just saw this (per Mikey) and thought it'd be more for your central folks

We have had a decent turnout from the NJ folks over here (might want to try to change the title to accommodate???) when we had done go-karting in Allentown. It was a good time, but a bit pricey for some folk. There are a few 'local' gems, but it all really depends on the weather and what kind of interests/expectations people have.

That being said, I'm more than likely in, even after probably going to the April 5th meet

Let's not forget about this. I was serious...there are a few roads that I have looked at....here's the site: http://www.motorcycleroads.com...x.htm

If anyone has some other suggestions, shout them out too. Also, how does one change the title of a post...I should have put also NY/NJ. Hate to leave out the neighbors...
