Does anyone have the ppc for an auto 5 speed t5? Please give me your comments on it. I read on the bsr website that the auto version offers 20 less Nm, does anyone know why? How much extra boost does the ppc give and does it kick in after 3rd or before that? And my last question is where to buy?....is buying from engstrom a real pain in the a$$?

Re: ppc question for auto t5 (S60 t5er)

I don't have the T5 but it's bit of lagg because there is some mechancal thing that hinders you from "blowing " the gears in the automatic (geartronic) during take off.
You will feel the difference in 1st, 2nd and so forth. It's fast and I can only imagine what it must feel like in a T5. My strongest gear from an acceleration point of view is in 2nd and 3rd gear. It's scary fast and BSR (I think) did something to the shifting so it's much smoother.
E.g. I'm not that fast in first but when I hit 2nd gear the car litterally explodes and I outrun most cars...unless I compete with a modded T5 or similar...
I personally had a very bad experience with Engstrom. So I bought from BSR (www.bsrab.se). You don't have to pay the tax since it's for export so it's cheaper if you are in the USA or in Canada. I'd recommend BSR, they have been extremly helpful as I had a few issues with the tuning due to what the mechanics did during an ETM fix. BSR fixed it back within a few days.

the auto version offers less torque because the stock setting offers less torque. the increase is proportional to the other PPCs, but automatics always (until the newest transmissions) have less torque. they have more of a drivetrain loss than manuals do.
either way its a great improvement!

it will actually cost less, because the prices you see include the 17% VAT, which we dont pay in the US.
actually comes out to around 850.

However I didn't receive a sales receipt or anything, which makes sense since I wasn't even asked to enter my credit card information. I am starting to wonder about these crazy Swedes... someone please reassure me!!!

Re: (darylkaiser30)

They only offered me the option of a wire transfer. You should soon recieve an invoice by email with their bank info. I have had my ppc for a week and a half but still can't use it!!! Too many technical problems with getting it properly updated so I can actually tune my car. It doesn't help that they are not on east coast time and it takes a day to recieve a response.

Alright, I think I might just say screw it and take JRL's advice and order from Eurosport Tuning instead. At least they are on USA time and speak English. this is a capture of the the back and forth conversation I am having with BSR trying to get my PPC to work. Still not success as of yet.
Your message: 07-21-06 05:21 pm
I have sent a couple emails already but have not heard a response. I recieved my ppc, connected it but got the read car error show up. I uploaded the data from my car to bsr and revieved an email confirming a new file had been uploaded and ready for me to download. I tried to download a
new file but it said there was no new file. I would like to start using my
ppc soon, thank you
BSR: 07-21-06 06:48 pm
Hello suren Azizian,
Be sure to follow the whole read car process before uploading anything. See our manuals how to proceed.
Best regards /BSR
Your message: 07-24-06 05:24 am
I have had no trouble uploading anything. The problem is I the ppc does not go to the tune car option. I was notified that there was a new updated tune available for me to download, but when I connect my ppc to the computer, it says there is no new file available.
BSR: 07-24-06 09:12 am
Hello suren Azizian,
Please, Try to download again.
Best regards /BSR
Your message: 07-25-06 03:37 pm
I have tried several times again to download the new file. It takes an extremely long time (about 2 hours) and afterwars it gives me a message :"Crc error.do not use the ppc in your car until the problem is solved"
BSR: 07-25-06 04:25 pm
Hello suren Azizian,
This is probably due to a problem between the ppc and your computer, please try to reboot your computer but do not start any other programs except for PPC-Update, and then try to do the download again.
Best regards /BSR
Your message: 07-25-06 05:06 pm
I used another computer and was able to get the ppc updated. However I still got the read car message when conencted to the car. I have uploaded another file of my ecu.
BSR: 07-26-06 08:02 am
Hello suren Azizian,
Can you please check the carconfig.
Connect the PPC, turn ignition in position 2.
Tap the "menu" button until it shows, "show config",
tap "enter".
Write done the figures and tell us.
All this is written in our manual how to check the carconfig.
Best regards /BSR
Your message: 07-26-06 11:46 am
configuration number: #########
stored vin: ############

I bought directly from BSR and the convo is directly with them. Since my last reply, they wrote to tell me that If I restart my computer a new tune will be available for download. Tried that, but ofcourse the genius who wrote that didn't upload crap so there is nothing for me to download, tried with two different computers. If this continues I am going to return this paperweight I have laying on my desk in the hopes that IPD softloader rumors are true. I read in an earlier post that some guy had to download 8 different tunes until one finally worked. That will take a month with the speed at which BSR works at.

Re: (phuz)

yes the computer can affect, cause the ppc first download a file, then reset the ppc and after that download the main file then server reset the ppc. If you dont have a fast connection or something happen on the process the download fail

I am getting the idea that the BSR product itself (when it works) is good, but the support for the product varies depending on which distributor you are working with. Sebastian seems to have his sh!t together, but it sounds like dealing directly with BSR in Sweden has it's difficulties...
So far I have received several responses from varying sources. Justin @ Nordic Cars in Middlesex, UK seems like a nice chap, as it were. He called me this morning to confirm my order, and has quoted me a price of $893 USD including shipping. This is $100+ dollars cheaper than EST, and he says he can have the unit out to me within a week. He personally loads the programs onto the units he sells, and I get the sense that I could call him directly if I had any difficulties with the product. That being said, I am now concerened with the overall quality of the PPC unit itself. I would appreciate some input on this prior to purchasing one. Anybody?
