Reliably, keep it under 300hp and you won't grenade the tranny. That's from a VERY reliable source.

We're running the straight IPD ECU upgrade with exhaust which should be putting us in the 290ish area. It cuts back the torque around shiftpoints ( I think this is common practice for chips on these cars, but it's a nice touch). I've seen people do stuff like wastegate mods, but since I haven't done it, I can't speak for the reliability factor with that. I do know it'll give you better off the line performance. I learned that first hand when I raced an 850 turbo (Prospero's) who had it done and a mystery chip. He pulled on me initially and then we hung together. It's late and I'm going on and on, so I hope this helps.

Well, I can't really say much beside my own experiences. Not sure how valid that is since I'm hearing all these amazing HP claims from other tuning companies. And none of them seems to have the problems I have. Something I did wrong...or..? That's something for you to think about.

I will say something around 270 FWHP will be a reliable figure of a safety margin either the internal parts and the tranny can handle.

The manual transmission is supposed to be stronger, but I still managed to shatter one flywheel this past weekend. And there's really no way for anyone to install the tranny incorrectly and $h!t happens few hundred miles afterwards. Maybe it's just my driving style....hehehe...should probably lay off that hardcore heel-n-toe driving and let my Brembo does its job.

I think I have reached to a point where not many have done...but why these tuners with 300+ hp has my issues??

Well it's just an idea. Still putting together my project. So far I've got many idea's running through my head. I'm looking for about 350RWHP in a 142. I thought it might be cool to have an "R" engine in it. With an M90 gearbox from sweden. Just an idea though, who knows, I'll probably be able to get the power easier from a worked B23FTi or somthing.

Thanks

It would probably be ALOT easier to get that power from a 93+ B230FT... simply because you'd have to mount the B5234T inline with the M90, and that would be a royal pain.

On a side note, anyone know what transmission Volvo used with the 850 series? Was it the m90? I don't know of any other manual transmissions they made that will take that kind of power... I know my m46 sure won't

The M90 was only used in 900 series RWD cars, so it couldn't also be used in the FWD 850. I don't know what manual trans the 850 used, but I thought it was Mxx (I don't know what the number was, maybe M56? It may not even be an M- numbered trans).
