So two days ago I found that my power steering fluid was almost gone.
I looked under the container and found that it was leaking out of the clamp area. What I would like to know is how tight should that clamp be? I tightened it down quiet a bit and just nervous about it being too tight.

Thanks

Tom

Re: Power Steering clamp (bigtomhammer)

There's been a Tech-Net Note on this: Power Steering Fluid Leak at Reservoir
TNN64-17-2007-08-24 (MY 2003 - 2008).

"An improved suction hose was introduced into production in December 2004."
"If there is leakage at the reservior suction hose connection, replace the suction hose and clamps only...."

Note: clamps are screw-type.

Re: Power Steering clamp (Tao)

That's interesting. My dealer noticed that my power steering fluid was low due to a leaking resevoir. Was going to be $150 to replace. I decided to put a paper towel under it instead. I will relook at the hose and clamp.

Re: Power Steering clamp (Norbert)

Note TNN mentions also "After replacing the hose and clamps, top up the fluid level, and check for leaks. If the leakage is still present, only then should you replace the reservoir."
