When I'm driving around, I often have my cell phone and my iPod hooked up to chargers via a cigarette lighter splitter which hooks into both chargers which then hook up to both devices. The problem is that this makes so much clutter, with the wires and splitters and chargers, etc. that its just getting annoying. I wanted to know if there was a way I could pop open the console/cupholder cover to get access to to the 12V wire from the socket and hardwire it to my chargers and drill a small hole in the coin holder part (The dipped area above the two cupholders) through which I can route the iPod and USB charger wires, so that when its all done, all that's visible are two roughly 3" wires sticking out, and I can still close the slide over the holder.
Any tips/instructions?

Re: Power Socket (vivek9856)

Take it to a good car audio shop. They should be able to do that no problem.

I then disassembled the arm rest and spliced into the rear facing 12v power socket & ran the adapter along the tunnel up to the front of the center console and mounted it behind the flaoting center stack (the space back there is useless anyway). I now have 4 inputs for any 12v stuff that I need to charge including phone, PC, Portable GPS, etc. My iPod, bluetooth & USB are all plugged in & charging in the center console via the Volvo iPod/USB connections.

Good idea - I can splice into the rear cig connection instead of the cupholder one! Thanks for that tip!
