It would be cool if everyone could make the gtg , so we can all compromise on something that's close and get a fun drive in. Any suggestions from the locals? If none of you have experienced German Town Road then you're missing out. For a brew pub I think Kennedy School, Bridge Port or Rogue since they are all fairly close to IPD and have relatively good parking. |
German Town is fun, but might get a bit hairy with a bunch of cars.
Couple of popular options-
First Option about 3 hours
Leave ipd and head east on I-84, take the Lewis & Clark Park exit to the Old Scenic Hiway. The freeway ain't bad, but the old scenic hiway is more fun and put's you up close and persoanl with the scenery. Cross the Columbia river at Hood River and return on the Washignton side via hiway 14.
Here's a sampling of what's visible from the road on the scenic hiway.
Second Option about four hours
Leave ipd pick up hiway 26 to Mt Hood, Visit the historic Timberline Lodge and a nice drive around the back side of Mt Hood. Cross the Columbia river at Hood River and return on the Washignton side via hiway 14.
The view above is from the outdoor seating area at the Elliot Glacier Brew House in Parkdale. I hear they have excellent brew on tap..........
Oregon State Troopers aren't as hardcore as WSP, but they are out there!
Just some ideas!
