Went to open the trunk at the food store yesterday... nothing, dead as a door nail. Pehaps the electric release motor died?
Had to use the manual key entry at the bottom - now I see why people have complained in the past aout there being no interior button for trunk release. This is deffinately no fun in the dark and in the rain.

That happened to me once for a few hours right after I disconnected the battery to replace a headlight. I got lucky and it came back after like 2 hours, kinda weird.

Re: (Heimpel)

It happened to me as well. Not only the trunk, but all remote functions died after the car was sitting for a few days. Then eventually things started working again. Like magic

Re: Poof! no more electric trunk opener - anyone else had one die on them? (ss60)

Aha - found out this morning the trunk lock button on the center console was pressed in. Guess I bumped it inadvertently.

That worries me because I hate having a motor unlock the trunk with such a difficult, and ridiculous task I have to go through to use the key. My friend's Aviator has a motor to unlock the liftgate instead of a lever. The motor failed once, and there's no other way to open the liftgate. Sometimes, we make things too complicated...

That worries me about all the electronics on my car. It also makes me think it's worthwhile to just lease cars these days. Let someone else put the next 50-100K miles on the car when all this stuff can break that's expensive to fix, but a nuisance to live with out.
Oh for the days of rollup windows
