Of course just using a P1800 without the camo would actually be a far better disguise! Does not look like LED headlights or taillights...

True. Just remove the Polestar badge and all you have is a P1800 with wider wheels and a couple of minor tweaks. Could have been hiding in plain sight. Of course the lack of engine noise might have been a clue. :D

Most people in modern cars drive with their windows up and music playing anyhow... you'd slip right by. But I think it would be awesome regardless, especially with some factory backing.

Just make a steel body for Polestar 1 and replace ICE with battery pack and call it a day. It will sell like hot cake.

Actually the cost mostly is for the body I think. If you had a P1800 in good shape, they probably can revamp it with EV power train underneath for you for a price. :)

And this has been done by a small garage:

Impressive, but did you notice the way the car was bobbing up and down on the highway? One of them mentioned having to make changes to the springs because of the extra weight. I don't know if that's the reason, of if that's how 60s cars in general handled.

Let the speculation begin.

Autoblog has an interesting idea- "A simpler option is that Volvo, Polestar, and anyone else involved in this project could have dropped a P1800 body on a modified 1 platform. Again, madder things have happened in the automotive industry."

Since this car is registered and owned by a Cyan Racing guy, maybe he grabbed a chassis from a roll over crash test car and mate with the P1800 body. If it is a new chassis, a EV chassis is much better in almost every way.

It is more like a crazy swap than new prototype to me. They can't afford to build just hundreds of P1800 body.

No, not electric. Yes, beautiful. YES, expensive. Cyan's resto-modded P1800 is not merely a one-off model built to fuel this week's pub talk. It plans to sell the coupe to the public. While production isn't limited, the company predicts its hot rod will be a low-volume model. It's already taking orders, and Autoblog can reveal pricing starts at $500,000 before options are factored in.

Pricing and individual specification is available for prospective clients. So did Cyan tell Autoblog the price, or were they speculating?

Maybe the volume is limited to how many old P1800 body they can find? Or it seems entirely newly built chassis and body?

They should sell a S60 model with the 420HP engine, will be super hot if can do at $100k. :)

But why stop at 420hp and 40psi boost? similar engine in lynk and co 003 concept had 528hp. unfortunately they do not list max boost for that engine spec, but my guess would be 50+psi. yikes

Based on what I've been reading, it's not totally new, but very modified. The rear suspension is new, and I believe that I read that the rear wings have been toned down. This article gives some detail. https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-news/first-official-pictures/volvo/p1800-cyan/

420hp is a lot for road cars, dare they build and sell one.
Even 360hp is quite pleasant.
528hp will only stay on test track.

Let’s hope they will build this for a reasonable cost. I would buy one...

I'm so into this car. I love what some companies are doing with high end restomods, whether its a 250swb revival, singer 911 dls, gunther werks 400r to name just a couple. take the character and style that cannot be reproduced today, and integrate modern manufacturing and materials and don't let cost get in the way. sure ill never be able to own, drive or likely sit in any one of the aforementioned vehicles, but to even know they exist for some is awesome and inspiring.
