In a letter sent out to prospective customers and posted to polestar-forum.com , Polestar announced that it had begun production on the Polestar 2. This despite production stoppages around the world and work-from-home orders to its staff in Europe and North America.
"Our precautions and planning over the last months mean that we have begun Polestar 2 production this week," wrote Polestar in the statement.
Those precautions, according to the letter, include temperature screenings and masks, medical checkups, and disinfecting factories.
Unions in North America and across Europe have been demanding that production stop, meanwhile, to prevent the spread of the virus and protect employees. Although China reports that fewer new cases are being discovered, it is still implementing stringent emergency response measures.
The Polestar 2 is expected to get 275 miles of range and more than 400 hp, as well as an Android-powered infotainment system.
