As you know our rear pads wears down faster than anything on our cars, my pads were at 3 mm and fronts were at 8 mm. So i decided to look for new brakes
Don't make the same mistake I've made. I went around couple shops including the dealer and they were the cheapest $350 (vs. 450+ tax at dealer) out the door for new "OE" rear rotors and pads. At least thats what the manager told me.
At first I felt a "slight" reduction in braking performance, the manager told me I need to break em' in. But after a while it got worse (My foot is half way down to the floor just to hold the car at a red light). Today I finally had time to take a look at my new brakes and saw that the pads was some cheap Duralast type crap! The rear rotors were not even ventilated! (Our original once were) The new rotors are also thinner than the originals.
So now I'm out $ 350 and my brakes are worst than when my pads were at 3mm! I am now looking for replacements on my 100 miles old pads and rotors, any suggestions will be great (and also I will be doing this myself this time)
FYI, no matter what they tell you they use cheap parts!

Did they bleed the brake lines after the change? That could have a lot to do with your pedal effort. Air is a bajillion times more compressible than brake fluid and if it were in your brake lines, would make you have to push the pedal more. I'm not an expert, but that's what I hear...
If you're looking to change, I've had Hawk HPS pads for a while and like em. I also have dimple-drilled and slotted EBC rotors. I like them, too, but the dimples make noise when braking (a whirring type noise) that you may not want. Slotted or smooth rotors won't make that noise.
Re: Please stay away from Just Brakes!!! This is a vent post. (chil943)

Sorry to hear. Everyone thinks the dealer is out to screw you but honestly, wouldnt a little bit more money for real Volvo parts been worth it after this ordeal? Least when poop happens the dealer usually mans up to it.
Id go with either factory parts or at least some nice rotors and factory pads.
