Hi,
Have a nice suspension clunk in my '02 V70 T5 5sp going that I just can't pin down.
I hear it and feel it coming from under my left foot. It does not occur consistently - sometimes it happens when I shift, sometimes not. On occasion it clunks over rough pavement - or not.
I don't *think* it is the axle spline issue, which I had repaired about a year ago. That sound I could re-create just by jabbing the accelerator in first or second. It is also not the top engine mount - had that replaced.
Finally, I had hoped replacing the sway bar end links with the ipd HD hardware would do the trick, but no love.
TIA,
Harry J

Cracked strut mount, broken spring seat, control arm bushing. Probably one of those
You neglected to say how many miles
You should not have had any axle issue with an 02

Re: Please help diagnose a suspension clunk (GrecianVolvo)

Thanks, Yannis - I'll probably have an independent shop do the work. Roughly how much should the repair cost?
Best,
Harry J

As I recall, at my indie it was around $135.

Not bad for the kind of driving we do around here.
As I recall, at my indie it was around $135.
I'll bet that was for one side and for either a front or back side bushing. There are 2 per front wheel. To do it [email protected] $400 at an indie....maybe $500 at a dealership.
BTW....a good idea to check those tie rods when you are done with the bushings, but before the assembly is remounted....no sense paying labor for the teardown.
