Hello all,

This morning my friend's 2013 S60 T5 Platinum AWD showed her several error messages upon startup. Immobilizer, DSTC fault, power steering service required, etc. The car has not shown any problems until today.

I believe this is caused by a failing 12V battery. I remember reading that the satellite radio module in the P3s could cause parastic battery drain and other electrical issues over time.

I am by NO MEANS an expert. I defer to the greater Volvo community -- am I right in my assumptions? And, if the battery drain is causing the other issues, how do I go about disconnecting the XM module? She doesn't use the feature anyways.

You cannot disconnect the Sirius module. I tried before, and the lack of power made the ICU not work. I think. It has been while. However, yes, cannot.

I would start with the battery being bad and go from there. Lots of codes and errors pop up when the battery is near its usable life.

Also, you can check with the dealer to see if the TSB was applied to fix this parasitic drain.

Thank you, @p.rico I thought there was some sort of adapter that could be added to the unit to trick it, but I'm most likely in the wrong there. I guess water intrusion or alternator would be worst-case scenarios.

Today she had to drive her mother's varicose-vain-blue Rogue, which she has named Cookie Monster.

There's discussion in here of using an adapter look the MOST cable around the RDAR system so it will work unplugged. Worth a shot if there are still issues.

@p.rico That is the thread I was looking for. Thank you so much! I couldn't find it earlier.

Their driveway also has a rodent problem. Her brother's Jetta was essentially totaled by those hungry bastards, so there's always that chance, too, if the obvious fixes don't do it.
