Hey guys. Just picked up 1 2005 S60R and love every thing about it, I do want to follow suit with a few other guys and delete the resonator. I did a search for what size pipe I need to replace it but could not find it on here. Does anyone know what is the length, width and material I will need to do this. I am assuming this pipe is made from galvanized metal? Thank for the help.<br>TGriffin

Re: pipe size for resonator delete? (tgriff144)

ideally you'd want to bring it someplace where they could weld a stainless steel pipe in place for longevity. I think you need to put a new flange on the pipe, due to the proximity of the flange to the resonator, so that would require welding. I'm not sure of the diamter, probably around 2.75" would be max for the stock system, with a reducer at the other end to joint the rest of the system.

I'm pretty sure I used 2.5" pipe and opened up the ends to slide over the existing pipe. My total cost was $5 and an hour of time. I wrote up a thread about it if you search for it. I think it was called "the $5 JRL mod"<br>

The stock system IS stainless. You want to use stainless pipe, and stainless welding wire.<p>I expect that some people doubt that the stock system is stainless, because the metal used is fairly low-grade stainless and will show some rust when exposed to salt. Nonetheless it is stainless.

Not as low quality as Jeep Wrangler SS exhausts. You wouldn't believe the rust on them, these are clean in comparison. I'm guessing ours are 409 SS (not sure what else they would use), in comparison to the preferred 304 SS.
