Hi Gang!
Thought I would get around to posting my pics from my grill and exhaust install from September. Hope the link comes through. The S60 grill install worked out pretty well. There's a bit of a lip on the bottom but one would never know this isn't the right grill for the V70 T5 unless you are a die hard Volvo fan!
Enjoy!
http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/mtbikerusa/lst?.dir=/2002+V70+T5&.order=&.view=l&.src=bc&.done=http%3a//briefcase.yahoo.com/

The car looks great.
I have wanted to install the S60 grill in my V70 but was unsure of the fit. Did you have to modify the nose at all?
Is the exhaust custom or does Heico sell the complete kit?

Re: Pics of my S60 Grill and Heico Sportiv Exhaust Install (scandinaviansled)

Fior the grill, the nose did not need any modification. I did need to modify the grill and had a piece of rubber made to fit behind the grill to make it look stock. I had to be creative with securing it but that was th easy part.
As far as the Heico exhaust; It is a complete system with multiple parts that need to be put together. I mounted my system loosely and secured it once I liked the way it fit. Heico says the bumper doesn't need to be cut but I didn't like the way the exhaust tips stuck way out so I custom cut some small sections of the bumper out (hardly noticeable and the cuts were on the black plastic way down low) to give it a stock look.
Mike

I like the sound but have some friends that say it's a bit loud. I like the sound!!!!! Can I say that again? I like the sound. It's not harsh but gives a good low hum.
My mountain bike is a bit more tricked out....
Mike

Hey George!
The clips on the back of the S60 grill do not line up with those on the nose so some customizing is in order. I had to remove the clips on the top portion of the grill to allow it to seat evenly in the grill opening. The rubber stripping I had made at a local body shop allowed the grill to fit against it so there is no wind noise detected at speed.......
Mike

Mike,
Looks great man! Those dual exhaust tips look really good on the V70. Hey, did you install the Reverse Radar System recently? I don't remember you having it on your car before?

quote:
That grill *should* bolt right in.

It would seem logical for it to bolt right in, but it doesn't for some reason. The "Nose" area on the V70 is actually different than the "Nose" area on the S60. I think that Darell might know more about this, but a couple of people have done this mod and had to do it creatively.
-Drew

Re: Pics of my S60 Grill and Heico Sportiv Exhaust Install ([email protected])

Hey Drew!
Thanks for the compliments. I live in a town where all the V70 are either XC's or AWD's, so my car really stands out. Most people didn't know Volvo did a reversing radar. It was instaled at the dealer before I took possession last November. Someone tapped the bumper, hardly noticeable, but it will have to be replaced and instead of it being a $500.00 fix it turns out to be a $900.00 fix with the radar having to be cut out of the new bumper. I may have the dealer paint the black molded plastic this time around. Still thinking about it.
Mike

Hello,
Found this topic in the archive. I'm intrested to change the T5 grill to the S60 one. How much of the front needs to be dismantled to change the grill? Seems like the whole front bumber is conected to the grill.
//henrik

These instructions for removing the grille were posted last year (I have not attempted):
After opening the hood:
1. Press in the centre of the six black clips until you hear a click. Remove clips.
2. Pull the top edge of the front panel forwards
3. Press four catches along the inner top edge upwards.
4. Pull the top edge of the grille outward until catches released
5. Press down three catches on the lower inner edge of grille (use some tool to do this through the grille).
6. Remove grille.
Very sweet looking. Did you just move? Noticed you have Oregon plates and your profile says you're in WA.

Re: Pics of my S60 Grill and Heico Sportiv Exhaust Install (Volvo Grrrr)

Hey,
I move north of Seattle about 6 months ago. Love it here. Moved up from Portland. Now my car is one of two on the road here instead of being one of six!! I haven't seen anyone else with the grill or exhuast, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time...
Mike

Other than cost, I did not go for that one because of my noise fear. If it were my exclusive daily driver, Iw ould probably have gone with Heico but I know my wife would not like it. I had an aftermarket dual on my '98 V70 R and she absolutely hated although she was a good sport and never demanded that I MUST replace it !
Yannis

Re: Pics of my S60 Grill and Heico Sportiv Exhaust Install (GrecianVolvo)

I am very surprised that there is not more noise from this exhaust. Perhaps the design of the new V70's allows for better sound insulation as my 98 XC had an IPD dual exhaust, and it was much louder.
I absolutely love this car. It's a great car to drive, comfortable, sporty, and the exhaust adds a bit more aggressiveness to an already great package. The S60 grill sets this car apart from the other V70's around also.
Thanks for all the comments everyone......
Mike
PS....Yannis, did you get DSTC with your V70? I can't remember.
