Hi Everyone,<p>Volvo(s) for Life!!!<p>Here are some pics of my new V70. His name is Ryde <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/smile.gif" BORDER="0"> I took delivery last week. The weather around here has been dreary this whole month so I wasn't able to take a lot of good outdoor pics. <p>It's been fun driving around in the rain though. The auto-wipers ROCK!!! And the AWD/4C/DSTC/ABS are brilliant and make the car so easy to drive. I'm driving up to Portland in a few weeks. Going through Shasta in a turbo is soooo fun. My 850 flys up those mountain passes so I can't wait to see what the R will do <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/smile.gif" BORDER="0"><p>Enjoy the pics. I'm glad I went with Sonic Blue. It's such a beautiful color, especially in the sunlight.<p><br>View from above<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P3260015.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Side view<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P3260003.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>R Mug!<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P3260012.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>In front of Mom and Dad's<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P3270003.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Another view from Mom and Dad's<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P3270002.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Against the trees<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P4020007.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>In front of the Cherry Blossoms<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P4010002.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Key collection - yeah, I'm a nerd like that<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P3260017.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Center Stack<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P3260011.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Wheel<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P3260009.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Gotta have a sub woofer<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P3260005.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Driver's side view<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P3260007.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Rear<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P3260004.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>R Power<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P4020004.jpg" BORDER="0"><p>Instrument Cluster<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P3270005.jpg" BORDER="0"><br>

Congrats, it looks that you have good artful taste to go all around. A classy ride to compliment your beautiful home. Enjoy, don't shelter the Moose either, floor it and you will have a grin ear-to-ear on those uphill twisties:)<p>Second the bracket, it is an essential mod together with a nice German set of 17" alloys with Dunlop M3 or Blizzaks from Tirerack or your home town.

To be honest, while Sonic is very distinctive, it appears too opaque (or Smurfy) to me. Brilliant Blue has a little more depth to the color. Totally wierd that Volvo has two light blues, and Magic Blue (may as well be black), but nothing in between except Ocean Race Blue only available on limited edition XC70 and XC90s. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/zeroforum_graphics/screwy.gif" BORDER="0"> But you love the color and that is most important thing.<p><TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD><i>Quote, originally posted by <b>mlieras</b> »</i></TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">R Mug!<br><IMG SRC="http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i34/mlieras/P3260012.jpg" BORDER="0"><br></TD></TR></TABLE><p>Damn fine looking mug! <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/smile.gif" BORDER="0"><p>Congrats again on your R!<p><br>

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and compliments! This is a great forum! As soon as I have time (and the weather is nice), the exhaust bracket will be gone <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/smile.gif" BORDER="0"><p>Drive safe! <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/cool.gif" BORDER="0">

Re: (Token)

You may want to search the archives as there has been much written about it.<p>In summary, the bracket hangs down a little, and if hit, can push the exhaust into the driveshaft, damaging it and requiring replacement. Many folks have removed it as it was really only needed during manufacturing.<p>If you look under your car it will be very apparent what we are talking about- it's about midway back.<p><TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD><i>Quote, originally posted by <b>Token</b> »</i></TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Whats an exhaust bracket?</TD></TR></TABLE>

This car doesn't seem to have either.</TD></TR></TABLE><p>No, the cupholder is an option here in the USofA. <p>Many items std. in Europe are opt. here in the US. <p>It is very normal to have the dash cubby.

So pretty and blue. <p>You will love driving it through the back roads to Portland. Stay off the interstate and slow down before entering those small towns. Drove mine from SLC and I can't tell you how fun it was. And you'll need those auto wipers in Portland.<p>I like the cubby for stashing the cellphone but replaced it with a cup holder and ran the iPod connector into the cupholder. Oh the sweet sounds of clear music. Its great, the cup holder holds the ipod and stashes the connector in one. <p>Enjoy the ride.
